TimberNook is an innovative nature-based developmental program designed to foster creativity, imagination, and independent play in the great outdoors. Founded by a pediatric occupational therapist, TimberNook camps take nature programming to the next level!
TimberNook believes that if a child is given the chance to explore and create in an unhurried and nurturing environment, they will learn to think creatively and openly. TimberNook does this by intricately weaving the therapeutic aspects of nature with its unique understanding of child development to create the ultimate camp experience.
2017 SUMMER CAMP DEAL: $160 for One Week of Camp ($40 Off!)
Camps are held at the Lois Green-Sligo Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, located on 63 acres of beautiful rolling countryside in Gaithersburg, MD. The site features open meadows, forests, streams, and a pond just waiting to be explored. Accessible only to members and campers, and bordered by an additional 70 acres of county park property, this a true sanctuary in the middle of busy Montgomery County.
Choose from the following camps. All camps run from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. daily.
One of our most popular programs, where young children “live and breathe” stories out in the wild. We’ll be doing everything from building a castle and beanstalk out in the woods for the classic story, Jack and the Beanstalk to going on sensory adventures for the story and song, Going on a Bear Hunt. With the turn of every day, comes a new story for the children to experience and lots of FUN!
This program is all about design and creativity in the wild. This week the children will be creating a massive chain reaction machine throughout the woods with a surprise ending. There will also be plenty of time for free play and games in the wild. This program will stretch the minds of your young ones and leave them asking for more.
This program emanates childhood days past. A traditional TimberNook program where young children have unique play experiences that challenge their mind and body in beautiful natural settings, followed by hours of free play out in the wild. We’ll be doing everything from muddy construction “work” to super hero missions to hosting a secret pizza party in the woods.
Children will dive deep into their imaginations, as they become knights, outlaws, maidens, and more in this medieval world in the woods. Children will create a life-sized castle and outlaw camps and then “battle” to defend their side of the woods. They will also cook a medieval feast, practice jousting, dig for dragon eggs, and even paint with catapults. This week is sure to inspire and create lasting memories for years to come.
