As a child, I had a terrible first haircut experience. My mom had my hair chopped off into a bowl like a boy. It was so traumatic that she immediately took me to get my ears pierced so people knew I was a girl. So, when I had my daughter, I swore I would NEVER get her hair cut until it was super long and would only get it trimmed! Well, she is two and a half and her hair is down to the middle of her back when straight (but it's really only up to her shoulders because of her curls). I decided it was FINALLY time to bite the bullet today. I took her to Cartoon Cuts since they specialize in kid's hair and I had heard they make the first haircut a special experience. I have to say.....it was such a special, wonderful experience!
Cartoon Cuts was so kid friendly and easy to get both of my kids to go running into and not leave upon seeing the scissors/razors. First, they have a waiting room with video games and toys. We went on a Saturday afternoon and had no wait. There was no hesitation on either kid's parts to jump right into the chairs because they each had their own TV at the haircut station playing their favorite - Dora! Both hair stylists for my kids were great. They were most importantly QUICK and had a really good touch with the kids. There were kids crying and I was holding my breath just waiting for the tears to pour out of Goose...but she was so mesmerized by the TV. She barely realized she was getting her hair cut, which was evident from the fact the stylist also put her hair in pig tails and with pink bows (which never happens in our house!).
After her haircut, Goose was glowing with delight to see how cute she looked (and my husband and I could not stop beaming ourselves at our adorable daughter). They gave Goose a certificate for her first haircut along with a small bag attached with her hair. We will keep this forever. Thank you Cartoon Cuts for giving us a sweet first haircut memory.....now if I can finally erase the memories and pictures from my mind of my own first haircut.
