Cruise the Chesapeake and get in ship shape this summer with Beginner or Intermediate 2-Week Sailing Camp from the Baltimore County Sailing Center.  Campers will learn the fundamentals of sailing and seamanship. Each sailor will experience a STEM program, specifically designed for sailing. This program emphasizes leadership, teamwork, resilience, balance, communication, problem solving and more, which will take your camper far beyond the waters of the Chesapeake!  Sailors are divided into age groups: Osprey, ages 8-11, and Eagle, ages 12-16. Beginner sailors will learn the fundamental skills of sailing and confidence on the water. By the end of their first week, sailors will venture to Hart Miller Island, across Hawk Cove for a picnic lunch. Skills taught over the 2-week camp include rigging/derigging, capsizing/recovery, tacking and gybing, and sailing on all points of sail. Intermediate sailors will continue to build upon their fundamental skills and develop more comfort and control in their boat. They will work on sailing upwind efficiently with more precise steering. Sailors will also move to the next level in seamanship, learning more advanced rules of the road, understanding of navigation markers and more! During their intermediate course they will also have some exposure to racing and adventure sailing. The programs are designed to build off one another, so that sailors can take multiple sessions to continue to progress throughout the summer. All instructors are U.S. Sailing certified sailing instructors and many are lifeguards as well. BCSC has been offering sailing camps since 1991 and has a proven methodology of teaching that ensures everyone has fun while learning to sail safely. Baltimore County Sailing Center's Camp is located at Rocky Point Park, on the shore of the calm water in Hawk Cove on the Chesapeake, in Eastern Baltimore County. Bus Service is included with all summer camps. All stops are at prearranged locations with easy access to the Beltway, convenient to Ellicott City & Catonsville, Towson, Canton and Dundalk! This special offer is of particular significance to CertifiKID, as it is the childhood camp of CertifiKID's own National Account Executive: My summers at Camp Netimus are the most memorable, magical, and cherished times of my childhood. Of course I didn't realize it at the time (since I was so young and too busy having fun!), but as I grew older, I realized that it was at camp where I truly learned the values of friendship, inclusiveness, and self-awareness at such an early age. Camp provides an immersive environment where young girls are required to foster and develop their sense of independence, confidence, teamwork, and conflict resolution. My 5-year old daughter has already heard the legends, songs, and traditions of Camp Netimus, and I can't wait until she's old enough to experience it for herself. -- Amy F. We were extremely impressed by the high quality of the material presented, the application of real-world examples, and the way that the camps presented such complex material in a fun way.” - Patricia   "SPARK business academy is run with passion and enthusiasm. Basic money skills are hard to discuss with your children. Budgets, credit cards, credit scores and taxes are now subjects that are easier to discuss with my son. The stock market classes should lead to most students becoming investors at an earlier age than many of their peers. Students gain valuable information and life skills and, for some, this experience will provide the “spark” that leads to a successful career in business." -  Paul

Giddy up! Spend your Spring Break (April 15-19) horseback riding with the graceful and gentle horses at Twin Oaks Riding Academy in Leesburg, VA. Campers ages 5-12 will be delighted to learn what it's like to care for and ride a horse independently. Each child is up and riding on the first day of camp as they learn basic positions on the horse, including steering and control. Experienced instructors offer individualized attention to every camper, staying with your child as they ride and helping them maintain proper position while guiding the horse. Each rider will be taught basic horse care skills, such as grooming, hoof cleaning, tack care, barn chores, and more. The emphasis of this camp is on safety and respect for the horse.  Campers are organized into similar age groups, of 5-6 per group and rotate through four, 30-minute stations: Grooming Riding Horse chores A craft activity teaching horse care. For an additional fee, your young rider can stay an extra hour at camp to feed the horses, have lunch, and enjoy other horse activities, such as an obstacle course, costume parade, and bareback riding! This "bonus hour" is often the most favorite part of camp.  "I truly appreciate that your camp provides the "whole experience" for kids. My daughter relished all the riding time she got, as well as enjoyed performing farm chores, grooming the horses and doing a horse-related craft every day. Thanks for making the safety of the children and horses your number one priority, and for training such engaging and thoughtful young counselors." - KB
