This summer, Come Sail Away - on a Calleva Sail Chesapeake adventure!
Calleva's beautiful Bahama Star - a 60 foot sailing ship - awaits a lucky few for a four-night journey along the Chesapeake Bay, Chester River, and Patapsco River.
Sail Chesapeake offers a unique opportunity for sailing enthusiasts ages 12 to 17 to experience wind, wave, and marine life like never before. No sailing experience required! Crew members will work together and learn sailing skills, how to navigate a larger boat, and discover the tremendous beauty of the Chesapeake Bay.
Throughout the week every crew member will have the opportunity to take the helm and act as skipper while demonstrating the proper methods of holding a course. Hidden coves will be sites for overnight moorings, meals and swimming dips overboard.
There will be many opportunities to explore historic areas and natural wonders during the four-night voyage, including:
- Sassafras River / Still Pond / Worton Creek / Fairlee Creek - Offering a treasure chest of adventure, hidden coves and wildlife
- Rock Hall - A full fledged fishing community established in 1707
- Chester River - In 1774, it was said to be the site of the Chestertown Tea Party
- Kent Narrows - Wonderful water foul, rolling farmland, fishing and crabbing
- Baltimore and Annapolis - An abundance of nautical history, sight seeing and commercial seagoing vessels
