Titus
Performance for Young Audiences
Saturday, May 20 & Sunday, May 21, 2017
The Kennedy Center Family Theater
Meet Titus, a young boy on the edge - literally on the roof of his school. He's in a situation that seems hopeless… he can either give up or fight. This exciting and challenging journey examines the obstacles faced by young people in our modern world - and, more importantly, how we learn to find courage within ourselves as we confront those obstacles.
Titus is a complex piece, full of serious, joyful, heartbreaking, and even funny moments. In keeping with the drama of the story, the production addresses such topics as suicidal thoughts, the loss of loved ones, and finding strength in yourself.
Originally written by Belgian writer Jan Sobrie, Titus was awarded the Dutch-German Author Prize in 2007 and is considered one of Europe's most successful plays for young people. This new English version, written by Oliver Emanuel and directed by Lu Kemp, won the 2015 International Performing Arts for Youth (IPAY) Victor Award ("People's Choice") for Best Theater Production.
