For Incoming 3rd - 8th Graders
Description: Campers choose their activities based on their own interests - and the activities change every week. The wide variety of activities available allow campers a broad range of experiences throughout the summer. Each week, campers select two activities - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Note: This camp runs through July 24th. There is no "Week 8" or "Week 9" for this camp.

Activity Descriptions:
Digital Arts & Digital Music Direct, film, star in, and edit a short movie. Make music by layering loops, tracks, and found sounds. Learn the basics of HTML. Improve your computer skills while gaining an appreciation for the artistic utility of computers.
Game Time!Test  your  mind  as  Game  Time  brings  back  some  of  summer’s old-time favorites such as Apples to Apples, Uno, and Dominoes. Discover newer  award-winning  strategy  games  like  Forbidden Island and Ticket to Ride.
Journalism: Summer at WES Times - Create, write, edit, and publish this weekly e-newspaper and learn what it takes to be a top-notch journalist.
LEGO my LEGO®Let your creative juices flow and build a skyscraper, a park, a whole city, or another galaxy! Join your friends as you work with  LEGOs®  and  build  your  creations  from  start  to  finish. Let out your inner architect and enjoy this week of fun!
Mind Your Own BusinessRun your own company. Take the helm to make critical decisions and short-term business plans to produce, market, and sell a product within an allotted budget.
RoboticsWork  in  teams  to  plan,  build,  program,  and  test  group  camper- designed  robots  featuring  LEGO®  robotics  equipment.  The culminating challenge will determine who has the top robot!
Sculpture and CeramicsExplore three-dimensional art using clay, cardboard, paper, wood, stone,  and  mixed  media.  Learn  different  methods  to  work  clay, how to glaze it, and then kiln fire your pieces. View several public sculptures on a field trip downtown.
Sketch BethesdaIf you love to sketch or would just like to learn, join this class as we go around Bethesda, sketching some of the wonderful sights and architecture. Students will set-up shop outside of designated locations in Bethesda to begin their masterpieces and then refine them back at camp. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity.
Sports MixExperience a variety of indoor and outdoor sporting activities. We will focus on skills and rules while participating in camp favorites such as soccer, basketball, medic, volleyball, capture the flag, and more!
Studio Art AdventuresCreate  original  works  of  art  from  life  observations  utilizing  the fundamentals  and  principles  of  art  and  design.  Projects  include canvas  board  painting,  pastels,  charcoal,  pencil  drawing,  black and  white  designs,  water  colors,  marbleized  paper  making,  and mixed media.
SwimmingCampers  will  take  a  short  walk  along  the  Capital  Crescent  Trail to Bethesda Pool for supervised swimming.
X-Stream ExplorationWhile canoeing, study streams and waterfalls with visits to Great Falls Park and the C&O Canal, learn about the topography of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and explore the effects of erosion and its impact on the landscape.
