Real Mom Review: Land of Little Horses Farm Park

We had a great visit to the Land of Little Horses Farm Park. After showing our vouchers and buying a feed cup for the animals ($5 and $2.50 refills), we headed into the park. After a few loops around the gazebo on the ride-on tractors, we headed into the main barn for the grooming session.

One of the best things about the park is the amount you get to interact with all the animals. In addition to the horses that the kids can groom, there were more horses, a donkey, and a kid and lamb in the different stalls.

Next, we went to check out some of the other animals at the park. There were alpacas, goats, sheep, more horses, peafowl and more. Though not all the animals could have the food from the feed cup, the goats were especially willing to eat as much as you would give them. Aside from Western Town, most of the attractions and animals are pretty close together. All paths are paved, so the park is very stroller friendly.

Next, we headed into the show arena. They have a snack bar, so we bought a pretzel, but also ate our snacks from home during the show without issue. The performance was about 30 minutes and included a unicorn, which really wowed my son. 

Personally, I was a fan of the horse that could do math problems.

After the show, it was time to visit and feed some more animals and then make a stop at the playground. A few notes: 1) There are only two sets of bathrooms - one in the building at the entrance and one in the main barn. Learn from our mistake. If you are headed to Western Town, make sure to make a stop before you go! 2) There are hand sanitizer stations located outside a lot of the main buildings, but there are animals throughout the park, so make sure you bring some along.

Next, we headed to Western Town. In addition to the pony rides, which was a must for my oldest, and gem mining, there is a little store with some souvenirs, and a few ‘old buildings from the wild west’. The boys had lots of fun exploring the various buildings. Western Town also has picnic tables if you packed your lunch. 

We ended up eating lunch at their newly opened café. It was nice to be inside for a bit, especially on a hot day, and it has a pretty good and very affordable menu of sandwiches, burgers, etc. They also have ice cream and slushies for an afternoon treat.

We finished our trip with one more stop in the main barn and a few more minutes of riding the tractor.

All in all, we had a great day at Land of Little Horses Farm Park! I think most families would spend between 2 -4 hours at the park, and I believe kids 10 and under would find it the most enjoyable. Though we didn’t make a stop, the park is about 5 miles outside of Gettysburg, so it could easily be added onto a family trip to the battlefield.
