Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, but that’s not the only day for a spooky good time. In fact, there are plenty of celebrations before the big day. Check out our roundup of BOO-rific Halloween-themed events in the Baltimore area for all ages to enjoy.

BOOseum Bash at Port Discovery Children's Museum
Oct. 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Admission: $15.95 for ages 2 and up

Looking for the biggest Halloween bash for kids and families in town? Check out the Port Discovery Children’s Museum for a spookily good time. The Halloween party will have Frankenstein-themed science activities and crafts for young minds to imaginatively create and invent. Halloween Fun House at The Playroom
Oct. 24-27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

There’s always a good time to be had at this Harford County indoor gym for little ones, but here’s your chance to come in costume and participate in Halloween fun. Visit The Playroom for Halloween-themed crafts and activities, candy corn bowling and more. The Halloween Fun House is recommended for children ages 6 and under. You can even buy an activity card for extra Halloween fun, which includes things like making a cupcake treat, a piñata craft, or a pumpkin spinner. 

Toddler Time Halloween Costume Parade at The B & O Railroad Museum

Admission: Free for museum members, $20 for adults, $12 for children 2-12

There’s always something magical about railroads. Combine that with the oldest and most comprehensive American railroad collection in the world, and behold the most spooktacular Halloween setting. Families of toddlers will want to visit the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum during the Toddler Time Halloween Costume & Parade with Choo Choo Blue. The festive event will feature trick-or-treating around the museum and a reading of Little Blue Truck’s Halloween.

Hampden HalloweenFest 2018
Oct. 31, 5 to 8 p.m.

Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, 36th Street
Will you have the most creative DIY costume? Come out to Hampden HalloweenFest on Wednesday, October 31st on “The Avenue” (36th Street) and see how your costume compares to the crowd. The event, sponsored by the merchants of historic Hampden, was created to boost handmade artistry and creativity in Halloween costume design across all ages. Children will get to trick or treat at local businesses, so dress in your silliest or scariest costume!

Día de los Muertos Celebration at The Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum is known as the cultural hub of Baltimore. So, what better place to hold a Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) celebration? The Mexican holiday coincides with Halloween. On October 28th, families will enjoy traditional dance performances and art-making activities that correlate with the holiday. Come out and contribute to a community altar, enjoy special food and drink, and take tours of the collection in both English and Spanish. This is a free event.

Patterson Park 19th Lantern and Halloween Parade
Oct. 27, 3:30 p.m. Festival, Parade Starts at 6:30 p.m.
Admission: Free
Patterson Park, Baltimore
You don’t want to miss Baltimore’s best family Halloween festival on October 27th. Start your day at the festival at Patterson Park with a kids costume contest, hayrides, dancers, live music, lantern making, arts & crafts market and more! Come hungry, too. There are food trucks and even a beer garden. Bring a blanket and be ready to picnic until parade time! The parade will get underway at dusk. Be sure to have your personally made lantern in hand as you join thousands of other parade attendees in a march (Of course, you can just watch from the sidelines too.). The route begins at the Boat Lake in Patterson Park, heads east to the annex of the Park, and ends back at the Pulaski Monument for the grand finale. The event is produced by Creative Alliance and Friends of Patterson Park in partnership with Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks.

7   Hyper Kidz Hyper-Ween Indoor Trick-or-Treating Event
October 31, 5 to 8 p.m.
Admission: $13 for Kids; Free for up to 2 adults per child; $5.99 for each additional adult

Don't have a great neighborhood for door-to-door trick or treating? No problem! Bring your little ghouls and goblins to the first annual Hyper Kidz Hyper-Ween Indoor Trick-or-Treating event at Hyper Kidz Indoor Playground in Columbia. Each general admission ticket includes UNLIMITED play in Hyper Kidz 11,000 sq. ft. Halloween-decorated indoor playground where they'll enjoy a Trick-or-Treating adventure through all of the Hyper Kidz play zones, food and drink, a laser bubble Halloween dance party and more! Be sure to wear your Halloween costume to be considered in the many contests they will be offering throughout the evening.
