Lamb or lion, what will it be? March keeps us guessing. But one thing's for sure, school closures galore have us Charm City dwellers hoping the groundhog was right and we're in for an early spring!

While Baltimore may not be known for the spring celebration of its nearby neighbor, March in Charm City brings an abundance of family fun along with the daffodil and forsythia blooms. From the city's famed St. Patrick's Day parade to amazing National Aquarium sleepovers, tons of theatre productions and even events at the Maryland Zoo, there's no better place to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring. Sleep with Dolphins and Sharks at the National Aquarium
Kick off the month with an unforgettable overnight experience at the National Aquarium in Baltimore! Choose to explore after dark on the Shark! Ocean Predator Overnight (March 1st) or Dolphin Sleepover (March 8th). Explore the aquarium after hours and enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes tours and presentations on your favorite marine animals from on-site experts, take in a viewing of their 4-D immersion film and top it all off with a kid-friendly dinner and continental breakfast. Peter and the Wolf & Family Luncheon at The Meyerhoff

Build a Bird’s Nest at Holt Park & Center for the Arts
Welcome back your favorite feathered friends with the Build a Bird's House event at Holt Park & Center for the Arts on Saturday, March 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to all ages, but pre-registration is required.

Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Bring the wee ones out to experience the best of the Emerald Isle! The St. Patrick's Day Parade takes place on March 10th at 2 p.m. this year and is a Baltimore tradition that has been dazzling spectators for more than 60 years. Enjoy Irish dancers, local marching bands, bagpipers, beautiful floats and even a few Philadelphia Mummers appearances at this fun family event. Arrive early (1:15 p.m.) to cheer on runners at the always sold-out Shamrock 5K race and get a good viewing spot. The parade starts at the Washington Monument, heading south on Charles Street and continuing to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. (Quick note: Walter's Art Gallery graciously allows parade viewers to use their bathroom facilities free of charge!)

Learn interesting facts about the number used to calculate the circumference of a circle while indulging in the sweet circular dessert of the same name (different spelling). Go on a Pi scavenger hunt, watch pie tins full of fillings fly off the Science Center roof, assist in building a lengthy Pi chain up the grand staircase, take part in a pie eating contest and more! The Pi(e) fun happens on March 14th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Free with paid admission.

BSO Music Box Concert Series

Perfect for the budding musician, The Music Box Concert Series is a monthly program from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra featuring musical activities and enrichment for children ages 6 months to 3 years. Join them on March 30th at 10 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. for Alphabet Soup, an interactive half-hour musical performance of classic and children's songs to aid in the building blocks of reading and writing. Plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to showtime for musical activities and fun for the whole family. Concerts take place in the lobby and seating is unreserved so be sure to bring a blanket!
