Why not combine both - with the coolest summer camp that is one part martial arts discipline, one part Jedi training, and all about enjoying a mental and physical challenge! Welcome to Musketeer Fencing Camp at the Capital Fencing Academy in North Bethesda!
This summer, get ready for a different camp experience filled with fun, fitness and friendship! Capital Fencing Academy's New Musketeer week long camps are offered from mid-July through late-August and are an ideal introduction for beginners ages 7 and up to the Olympic sport of sabre fencing. No experience is necessary, all campers a separated by age and all equipment is provided.
Group instruction from World and National champion coaches and fencers is paired with fun, interactive games that ensure all Capital Fencing Academy campers are engaged and learning from day one. With this camp, the benefits are huge. Fencing is fantastic exercise, and helps kids improve their agility, concentration and decision-making skills. And it's a great sport for kids who aren't into more traditional team sports. It really attracts students who like to be challenged physically and mentally.
Sample Camp Schedule:
Morning Activities
- Fun, interactive warm-up games and stretching exercises.
- Water and snack break.
- Sabre safety followed by fun saber swordplay games (with practice, plastic sabres) and paired exercises in footwork and blade work.
Lunch Time: Noon - 1 p.m.
- Campers eat their bag lunch while watching and discussing cool fencing videos or movies that feature fencing.
Afternoon
- Overview and assignment of equipment to each fencer.
- Learning fencing etiquette and salute.
- As week progresses, fencing with real sabres!!

Camp Hours:
- Monday - Friday, drop off from 8:30-9a.m. - pick up between 3-3:30p.m.
- Early drop off and late pick up is available for an additional fee, payable directly to the vendor. If you are interested in Early Drop-off before 8:30 am or Late Pick-up after 3:30 pm, please email your request in advance to [email protected].

What You Need to Know:
- Valid for NEW members who have not previously fenced at the Capital Fencing Academy.
- Capital Fencing Academy provides all the fencing equipment each New Musketeer will need.
- Campers bring the following to camp daily: healthy morning snack, lunch and a water bottle.
- Each camper should wear a t-shirt with short sleeves, sport shorts and tennis or running shoes. No jeans, Crocs or sandals will be allowed.
- For insurance purposes, all first time campers must fill out and send to USA Fencing a 14 day free trial membership. Click here obtain the form.
