Mary's Land Farm Summer Camp is an exciting way to light up any young person’s summer. They provide unique, hands-on opportunities for learning, growing, and fun - all at their working farm on 160 acres in Howard County, Maryland.   Campers spend their week immersed in the natural world, becoming stewards of the environment. Each camp week is loaded with creative, enriching activities led by skilled counselors and farmers. Campers care for the chickens, hike the wild lands, explore creeks, get crafty with wood and nature, tend and harvest the organic gardens, make farm fresh food, learn about plant and animal ecosystems, and more. This engaging experience will spark a life-long appreciation of the outdoors in your child, and help them explore how people and the environment are all connected. Mary Land Farm's 2023 Summer Camp program is for three age groups. Sprouts (Age 4-6) Farming from a smaller person’s perspective. Campers participate in farm life through their senses, holding animals, digging in the dirt, and asking questions. Camp staff oversee petting the animals, collecting eggs, handling chicks, learning about bugs and insects, tasting the veggies in the garden, creating art projects, and listening to stories.   Farm Pals (Age 7-10) Experience all facets of farm life with age-appropriate opportunities. Participate in farm chores from grooming the ponies to feeding the chickens. At Mary's Land, they encourage connection with the land and the animals, and provide daily experiences that increase campers' farming knowledge through hands-on, experiential learning.   Junior Farmers (Age 11-14) Daily farm life is an adventure in itself to this crew! The perfect fit for active early teens. Farm experiences allow campers to learn about biology and agriculture, horticulture and husbandry through daily electives and experiences. Skills are developed that benefit children all year long, instilling confidence as they learn all about cooperative farming and working together.   In each age group, campers will learn about different farm topics like: Wilderness Survival Soil and Water Conservation Raising Chickens for Meat and Eggs Personal Fitness Horse Care Woodworking Nature Exploration and Preservation Insect Studying Farm to Food   Afternoon activities include active water games, arts, crafts or sports. Discovery Science Camp is a science teacher-led activity and excursion camp at The Heights School, an independent school for boys with a conveniently located and beautiful 29-acre wooded campus in Potomac, MD. Discovery Science Camp is a program designed around uniquely engaging activities and hands-on experiences involving science. For the past 21 years, this longest running camp at the school has been staffed exclusively by The Heights School's faculty - and it accomplishes more adventure in a few weeks than most camps offer in an entire summer. This summer, Discovery Science Camp will accomplish field trips in small groups of ten campers plus a faculty leader and staff member. Here is a sample of activities and trips that have been taken in past years: A visit to the NASA Goddard Space Center with a special presentation on the space shuttle, satellites, and the James Webb Telescope. The traditional helicopter egg drop engineering contest and a chance to make ice cream as a prize. An in-depth study of ecosystems and The Chesapeake Bay, including a visit to The Chesapeake Bay. Dissection of a shark and a chance to study Marine Biology. Construction of giant water balloon catapults and cannons as a fun way to learn about Newtonian Physics. Nature hikes that promote an understanding of Environmental Biology and the natural forces that shape our local environment, including visits to Cunningham Falls Park and the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve. A visit to the U.S. Naval Observatory Dome Telescope with a presentation on outer space. Woodworking and 2×4 bridge building for older campers to better understand engineering principles and design. Learning about Natural History through hikes and expert guest speakers invited with animals such as falconry from a Falconer and reptiles from a Zoologist. Visits to nearby Caverns of the Catoctin Mountains to learn more about cavern formation and Geology. Learn about Rocketry, how planes fly, and applied engineering demonstrations using model rockets and an opportunity for each camper to make and launch a model rocket. A visit to a large crop and dairy farm to better understand agricultural sciences and the work of farmers. Understanding Aeronautics, including a trip to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum and a tour from an F-16 pilot to learn about how planes fly. The chance to go creeking and explore the tiny, living world of microorganisms in naturally sourced water through the use of biology lab microscopes.   HURRY! Join La Dee Da's Creative Summer Craft Workshops designed especially for older campers. All projects are designed to promote creativity and hands-on learning in a fun and social environment. Learn a new craft, make new friends or bring your bestie along to join! Workshops run Monday - Thursday from 2 pm - 4 pm. Workshops are suited for children ages 10 and up.   June 5 - June 9: Paint & Board Workshop (Ages 10+) Looking for Summer creativity for your preteen? The Paint and Board Workshop will get their creativity flowing! Your camper will be thrilled to create multiple, unique and stylish wood sign projects that they will be able to customize and use as decoration around their room or gift to a loved one.   June 19 - 23: Tie Dye Color Extravaganza Workshop (Age 10+) Let's EXPLODE with color! Kids will learn to twist, scrunch, and swirl to create patterns all of our own. Campers will explore the techniques of tie dying and color theory through hands-on projects and experimentation. We will learn the art of Japanese Shibori Dyeing, Ice dyeing as well as traditional tie-dyeing. Each camper will go home with multiple hand-dyed pieces.   June 26 - June 30: Macrame & Knot Workshop (Ages 10+) Fall in love with the ancient art of macramé! This workshop is designed to help campers learn three different knotting techniques so they walk away with foundational knowledge and get creative to explore the art on their own, and a beautiful piece to take home! Campers will develop dexterity and coordination, and enjoy making a beautiful wall hanging. Learn one of the most meditative art mediums while mastering the basic techniques.   July 10 - 14: Paint Pour & Ocean Resin Workshop (Ages 10+) Join in this summer with the hottest trend for making abstract art. In this fun, colorful workshop, artists will learn how to create eye-catching color combinations and learn various techniques such as the dirty pour and flip cup along with ways of manipulating paint with a hair dryer or string. We will also learn to work with resin while creating a stunning resin piece inspired by the ocean!   July 17 - 21: Modern Clay Jewelry Workshop (Ages 10+) Beautiful jewelry can be simple and fun to make.  Polymer clay gives you the freedom to combine colors and create shapes in more ways than you can ever imagine. In this 4 day workshop, campers will go over the basics of how to form, prepare and mold polymer clay into incredible, lightweight baubles that you'll want to wear every day.  We'll learn how to use cutters and apply hand-forming to create ready-to-wear accessories. By the end of the week, each participant will leave with at least three pairs of earrings, and a necklace to call all their own.   July 31 - Aug 4: Beginner Sewing Workshop (Stuffie & Weighted Lap Pad) (Ages 10+) This beginner sewing workshop will teach you the basics of hand stitching techniques as well as getting on the sewing machine. We will learn to create our own paper pattern while customizing an adorable keepsake plushie. We will also create a weighted lap pad using fabrics of our choosing.

Take the stage this summer – at Round House Theatre!   Round House Education is excited to welcome young artists to our spaces this Summer for Summer Camp 2023 to explore acting, movement, design, and playmaking! Their camps inspire creativity, exercise imaginations, and promote artistic risk-taking, while developing critical thinking, cooperation, and confidence. Round House Theatre believes every child is an artist, and encourages them to explore every aspect of theatre, and the unique ways of telling stories on stage. Camps will be offered at 2 different Round House locations this summer! Choose from the following camps:   Destinations (Grades 1 - 3): Destinations is a theatre arts program fueled by the imaginations of our students. Budding artists participate daily in acting, design, and movement. Each afternoon students then apply their new skills and their own imaginations to create theatrical adventures. At the end of each week, we welcome family to join us for a celebratory sharing of our favorite experiences and creations. The Studio Ballet Arts Performing Arts Camp encourages creativity through dance and voice. Campers will experience the process of a musical production with each session concluding with a live performance presentation. Camp is for boys and girls ages 4 -14. All activities are age appropriate with two-week sessions Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (before and aftercare is available) beginning June 26 through August 18.

American Sports Management's (ASM) Tennis Camps have been bringing tennis camps to the DC area for over 10 years. Cavallo Riding Center (CRC), part of Cavallo Farm, is bringing back their Horse Lovers Camp.
