Meet Award-Winning Children's Author/Illustrator Jason Chin at the Ivy Bookshop
 Jason Chin's book  The Grand Canyon will take you on a journey back to the Grand Canyon, where he and his daughter explore what it looked like in the past and what we can learn from it in the present. His books take you on a wild adventure all while teaching science, geology, and history. Visit the Ivy Bookshop on Thursday, April 4th from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. to meet Jason and hear about his creative research and inspiration.

Baltimore City Schools International Family Night
Come out for a night of fun, food and celebration at City Schools International Family Night on Thursday, April 4th. Attend this event wearing the traditional attire of your country and culture, and enjoy food, entertainment, interactive activities, and student performances. This free event is only open to the families of Baltimore City Schools and will take place between 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Registration is required and all ages are welcome.

Weekend Walk-In: Family Tree in 3D at American Visionary Art Museum
Join the American Visionary Art Museum's Weekend Walk-In Workshop on April 6, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. This is an exciting, hands-on workshop where your kids can create a sculpture of their family tree. All ages are welcome with a $5/ per person admission fee, not including the museum admission fee.

The Gnome and Garden Show at H.P. Rawlings Conservatory
Stop and smell the spring flowers at H.P. Rawlings Conservatory for their spring flower display, The Gnome and Garden Show. The show is open from April 6th to April 21st from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Witness the rainbow of spring colors with tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, grape hyacinths, and other plants. Many of these unique varieties in the display will be available for sale, and you can also stop in the Conservatory gift shop for books, cards and more.

There's lots of family fun to be had at The National Aquarium this month, from slimy creatures to a BioBlitz in the park, we've got you covered with the inside scoop! On Saturday, April 13th come see the Icky Creepy Slimy tour to observe the ickiest, creepiest and slimiest creatures beneath the surface. The tour begins at 9 a.m. and runs for 2 hours. All participants must be 8 years and up; an adult must accompany those under 16. If a hands-on activity is more your style then join the National Aquarium's Conservation Team for a City Nature Challenge BioBlitz event. Using binoculars, magnifying glasses, nets and other tools (all tools will be provided), participants will search the trails at Leakin Park to find organisms. This free event is open to all ages and will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required and all participants under 18 must be supervised by an adult.

Celebrate Earth Day  
Earth Day is coming up this month on April 22nd, and it's a great time to teach your kids about caring for the earth. There are so many little things we can teach our kids to do that will have a lasting positive impact on the earth. You can also celebrate at these local events around Baltimore:

  • Celebrate Earth Day surrounded by some of the most amazing creatures on the earth with the National Aquarium. The Earth Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, April 22nd with a full day of activities. There will be educational opportunities to teach about the effects of plastic in the world around us. Come from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. to join in the festivities, activities will be included with Aquarium admission.
  • Celebrate Earth Day an outdoor, educational and animal-focused spot in Maryland. Eco Adventures will be hosting an Earth Day festival on Saturday, April 13th from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. The event includes a moon bounce, pony rides, live animal interactions, green screen photos with animals, crafts and carnival games, face painting, and more! The festival is $10/person, for ages 3 and up. Spring Family Arts Day at Towson University-- FREE 
Visit Towson University on Saturday, April 13th for a day of art activities, dance workshops, and tours of Towson student's artworks at the gallery. This free event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. and is open to all ages. There will be something for everyone at Spring Family Arts Day, so come out and enjoy some Towson-tiger infused fun! 

The Baltimore Kids Market at R. House-- FREE
