Finding a family-friendly weekend spot in Baltimore that both parents and kids can agree on can be tough. Instead of another day at the Inner Harbor, why not visit a local brewery or winery? The Baltimore area hosts several family-friendly breweries and wineries that are perfect for an outing with the kids. The ones listed below offer plenty of open space for your kids to run around and some award-winning adult beverages for you. Bonus: many of them serve food or allow a bring-your-own picnic option.

So pack up the family minivan and head to one of these awesome spots in the Baltimore area for a weekend full of laughter, fun activities and some local brew with your kids in tow!

Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard in Dickerson, Maryland
Families are always welcome to venture to Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyards, located an hour outside of Baltimore. Sugarloaf offers exquisite wine and scenic views and, for the kids, an open lawn with outdoor games. The whole family will enjoy their monthly events that include food trucks and live music. Basignani Winery in Sparks Maryland
Take a scenic drive 30 minutes outside of Baltimore to Basignani Winery. Basigani offers award-winning wine, amazing brick oven pizza and an outdoor terrace and lawn with plenty of room for kids to run and play. The winery hosts monthly events including a Friday Cafe Night with live music, brick oven pizza and free admission for kids. Elk Run Vineyards and Winery in Mt. Airy, Maryland
Escape to Frederick County, Maryland for some much-needed country air and some award-winning wine at Elk Run Vineyards and Winery. Elk Run has several picnic tables around their gorgeous property, perfect for a bring-your-own picnic lunch or dinner. Boordy Vineyards in Hydes, Maryland
Head 30 minutes north of Baltimore to Boordy Vineyards where you'll enjoy plenty of family fun with its unique location on an operating farm. Experience wine-tasting in a barn and be sure to return for family-friendly events like their free farmer's market every Thursday with local wine, food, and music. Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House in Baltimore, Maryland
Visit the brand new Guinness Brewery in Baltimore, which is also the first Guinness Brewery in the U.S.! Families are welcome to enjoy a picnic and lounge on the lawn chairs around the gorgeous new campus. The brewery also includes a large field where guests are invited to play cornhole, frisbee, and other outdoor games! Stop by for a morning brunch in the sunlight or during the evening for cooler weather and enjoy the lighted patio.

Peabody Heights Brewery on 30th Street in Baltimore, Maryland
This brewery comes with a play area for kids with a fully-stocked bookshelf with children's books from The Book Thing. Your child is welcome to play with their games, toys, video games, pool table, foosball table and cornhole. They can even bring a book home if they want to! Peabody Heights Brewery is named after the old Baltimore neighborhood, Peabody, now known as Charles Village. This brewery offers a wide variety of locally-brewed and seasonal beers. Visit the large tasting room or grab a seat outside and enjoy some good Baltimore brew while your kids have fun, too! B.C. Brewery in Hunt Valley, Maryland
Visit B.C. Brewery and enjoy a self-serve, pour-your-own-beer experience while spending quality time with the kiddos at their designated family area. Enjoy live music, games including cornhole and giant connect four, and great food from B.C. Brewery's onsite food truck, BCB Eats, which offers a snack food and meal options. Diamondback Brewing Company in Baltimore, Maryland
For a family brewery with dinner and drinks head to Diamondback Brewing Company. Enjoy their house-made crusty pizzas and sweet or savory pretzels on their outdoor patio. There is plenty of lounge seating and tables with string lights. The kids will have fun trying to spot Inky, the brewery cat, or petting all the friendly dogs that visit the brewery each week. Head downstairs to the brew room and play cornhole and ping pong right next to the brewing machines. They also host live music events and food trucks. Suspended Brewing Company in Baltimore, Maryland
Before an Orioles game or after a visit to the B&O Railroad Museum, be sure to stop by Suspended Brewing Company. Suspended Brewing recently opened in the Pigtown neighborhood of Baltimore in early 2018 and serves high-quality beer. The owners of Suspended Brewing are UMBC alums and firm believers in having an eco-friendly impact on the community. They have thoughtfully planned out sustainable practices, from reclaimed wood furnishings to an aero-waste composting program, even sending their spent grains to the Maryland Pig Sanctuary. It's loads of fun and a great eco-friendly lesson for kids!
