Ready to start planning your kid's birthday party? But what about a theme? There are so many ideas it's hard to narrow down to one. In comes the recent release of Disney's live-action Aladdin.

Think an affordable Aladdin-themed birthday party, sure to make your kid feel like they've stepped right into a world with magic carpets and a fun, loving genie. It could be the party of our dreams.. I mean the party of our kid's dreams.

This post is sponsored by Disney.* Experience the magic of Disney’s Aladdin in a whole new way with the new live-action adventure and the signature edition of the animated classic on Digital & Movies Anywhere 8/27 and Blu-ray 9/10. Pre-order: HERE

What perfect timing! The kids will love watching the animated and live-action movies during the party and so will you. Looks like everyone gets a present! All the excitement and nostalgia inspired us to put together a list of ideas that will turn your kid's birthday from ordinary to extraordinary!

Decorations

I love cake and games and presents... But cake and games and presents do not a magical Aladdin world make. It's the decorations that will take your party over the top. And it's easier than you think.

It's customary for some Middle Eastern cultures to eat on the floor. Nothing will add to the overall theme of your party more than having guests do something similar. Fabric and pillows can do the heavy lifting of your overall decoration.

Don't want to spend your budget on pillows? We get it. Yard sales, thrift stores, and bargain bins are amazing resources. AND you could donate them after the party. WIN-WIN.

Bright, vibrant blues, purples, golds, and aquas add so much color it feels royal- as it should be for your prince or princess's big day!

If you want to avoid sitting on the floor there are plenty of theme-worthy options that include tables and chairs. Dress it up with centerpieces, lanterns, and pops of gold.

Crafts

Putting together fun crafts during a party is great for kids. If you do it right, they can help create decorations for the party and make their own party favors! WIN-WIN-WIN!

DIY Centerpieces

Have your party goers help with the decor! Purchase plain or colorful bottles and paint brushes. Have everyone decorate their own. Use the finished result as the centerpieces for the party and let them take them as party favors.

Make Your Own Head Piece

Buy plain gold head bands and 'jewels'. Let everyone pick their own color and glue it on the headband to wear during the party.

Pin the Wish on the Genie Bottle

Use construction paper or a poster board to draw a lamp and stars. Color it, glue jewels to it- make it look festive! Cut out the lamp and the stars. Have the kids write their wish on a star, blindfold them, spin them around and have them try to pin their wish on the lamp!

DIY Magic Carpet

Have the kids make their own magic carpet! All it takes is a pillow case, ribbon, and tassels. Their imagination will have them flying around for the rest of the party. These beauties also make great centerpieces.

Treats

What is a birthday party without candy? Sad. Just sad. Ever considered a candy bar? Brightly covered table clothes, candy, and gold accents make it a candy bar fit for a princess or prince.

Now that we have our candy, is there anything cuter than themed cookies? You can certainly buy them from a professional OR purchase cookie cutters and have a cookie baking party with your little one before the party.

Be it a traditional cake or cupcakes, you simply can't have a birthday party without it. Decorate them with brightly colored frosting and/or small toppers to theme it up.
