Real Mom Review: Loudoun United FC Professional Soccer Game
By Allison Weese & Vasti Wilkins, CertifiKID SubscribersPosted Sep 06, 2019
Loudoun United FC is Loudoun County, Virginia's first professional soccer team. The United Soccer League expansion team 'kicked' off their inaugural season this year at their brand new, 5,000-seat stadium, Segra Field, in Leesburg. The stadium is located within Phillip A. Bolen Park, and also serves as a training facility and team offices for D.C. United.
We sent two of our MOM Squad ambassadors to experience a Loudoun United FC game with their families. They received free tickets in exchange for providing an honest review of their experience.

Vasti: Loudoun United FC is a new professional soccer team with a home field in Leesburg, Virginia. The stadium is a brand new venue that is still undergoing construction. Upon entry, there are color-coded maps of the venue to make finding your way around easy. The field is very well lit, which makes it easy to navigate and identify areas when you are new to the premises.
Allison: We arrived at the field about 30 minutes before the game was scheduled to start. This allowed us to visit the wide variety of food trucks, play in the Kid Zone, and do some souvenir shopping before the start of the game.
Vasti: The food offerings are a variety of food trucks and pop-up restaurant stands. Options ranged from pizza, chicken, Jamaican, burgers and hot dogs, Mexican, dessert, and a couple of others. There were no long lines at the food options.
The VIP Lounge was very appealing. You could order food inside the lounge and there was also outside VIP seating, which provided options to enjoy the game in either setting. We purchased a slice of pizza and the service was excellent.
Allison: There was a great variety of food options (ice cream, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, just to name a few!) that satisfied even the picky eater in our group. After purchasing our food, we easily found our seats and watched a great game! All of the seats at Segra Field offer a great view of the action, and the game was exciting.
Vasti: The grounds and bleachers were extremely clean and the seating was pretty comfortable to sit through a game. We enjoyed a very engaging game with a fun and engaging crowd. The very well lit field and center seating selection provided for perfect viewing of the entire game, no matter what end of the field the action was happening.
Allison: The atmosphere was fun and family friendly. We could easily see all of the action on the field, so the whole family was engaged throughout the game. We cheered on Loudon FC to a 4-0 victory!
Getting There and Getting In
Allison: Segra Field is easy to find. Directions are provided on the website and directions can also be accessed via apps such as Waze and Google Maps. There is a $5.00 parking fee, which can be paid in advance or on site (card or cash). The parking lot has plenty of spaces available, and all of the spaces are a short walk from the entrance.
The Leesburg Park and Ride is located nearby. You can check the Commuter and Metro Connection Bus routes to see if there is transportation available for the particular day and time(s) you plan to visit.
We walked directly to the entrance, were checked by security, and had our tickets scanned (we saved the tickets in Google Wallet to save time). No waiting!
Vashti: Easy with GPS. Very well lit once you arrive to the field area. Lots of police support to guide you to parking. Huge parking lot that cost $5 per vehicle. It was readily available although the game was not sold out so plenty of space. The earlier you arrive the further back they send you into the parking lot. Leaving at the end of the night is managed by parking lot attendants. We experienced a quick departure because we were parked at the front of the lot.
It was very quick and easy to get in. Security guards check all bags upon entrance.
Time Recommended to Enjoy Experience
Allison: I would recommend arriving 30-45 minutes before the game (depending on the ages of your children) if you'd like to eat, shop, and play before the game begins.
Vashti: Four hours (from leaving home to getting back)
Recommended Age Range
Allison: My children are five and seven. I would recommend this for children 4 and up who are interested in soccer. There were lots of kids cheering on Loudon FC in the crowd.
Vashti: My child is 13. This activity is excellent for all age ranges.
Tips for Families
Allison: No outside food or drink is permitted, but there are plenty of food, drinks, and snacks available for purchase. We have attended DC United games and found the food at Segra Field to be tastier and more reasonably priced.
Be sure to review the list of prohibited items and bag policy on the website prior to packing for the game. The list is long, and if you have a prohibited item or a bag that is not of acceptable size, you will be asked to take it back to your vehicle.
The facility was clean, restroom facilities (port-a potties) were easily accessible (and there was a hand-washing station directly across from the facilities). The crowd was full of families and it was easy to walk to and from our seats and the eating areas.
Vashti: Make sure you don't have anything in your bag that has the potential to be confiscated. No outside food or drinks allowed. If it is raining you will need to bring your own umbrella. Have cash to pay for parking.
The restrooms are currently port-a-potties and there are plenty of them available.
There are programs that allow children attending to come onto the field for a halftime activity.
Would Your Family Visit Again?
Allison: We will definitely visit again! We had a fun time and would love to go back with friends and family for a relaxing evening.
Vashti: Absolutely. We love soccer and it is an awesome venue. The food options were great. It was easily accessible. The team is really good also so it made the game worthwhile.
