Create a Paper City With Templates Designed by Actual Architects

Parenting Just For Fun

If you're as ready as we are to chuck your kid's tablet/phone/computer/video game console out the front door, then you're likely also dying for something - anything! - that doesn't involve a screen that may keep them occupied for more than two minutes.

Architecture Studio Foster + Partners gets it. About a month ago, the British firm stepped up to help parents out during this time of overly-abundant family togetherness by releasing a series of engaging building and design activities to keep kids entertained at home - at least for a few hours! And what better way to learn to build things than from the professionals themselves, right?

From a paper skyscraper activity, to teaching how to draw trees, and a lesson in storytelling through photography, the Foster + Partners' architects have come up with some truly unique and fun activities for kids of all ages. They even released an online, narrated book for little ones entitled "What Makes a Building" written and illustrated by members of the studio.

Our favorite activity in Foster + Partners Architecture From Home series is the create-your-own city project, which includes 16 templates that kids can print out, color, cut out and fold to create fantastically detailed and creative mini cities. How cool is this?!

You can find all of Foster + Partners Architecture From Home projects on their website, and the firm invites all of the budding architects out there to share their creations on social media using #architecturefromhome and tagging Foster + Partners.
