Free Entrance to National Parks for 5th Graders for 2020-21 School Year

Launched by the Obama administration in 2015 to coincide with the one hundredth anniversary of the National Park Service, the Every Kid Outdoors Program provides an annual pass for fourth graders and their families to visit national parks, forests, lands, monuments, waters and wildlife refuges across the country for FREE (Have a fourth grader in your fam? Unfortunately, last year's fourth graders were not able to make full use of the Every Kid Outdoors Pass due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To remedy this, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior recently signed an Order extending the program to fifth graders and their families for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year - through August 31, 2021 to be exact!

The following are directions from the National Park Service's website for how to take advantage of this special program.

How it works

Many 4th graders missed out on using their Every Kid Outdoors Annual 4th Grade Pass during the 2019-2020 school year. A new voucher is now available for 5th grade students for the rest of the school year!

With this voucher, 5th graders and their families will have free access to national parks and other federal lands managed by the Department of the Interior from October 28, 2020 through August 31, 2021.

Get your voucher

1. Download the 5th grade voucher (1.04MB PDF).

2. Print the voucher and keep it in a safe place until you are ready to use it.

3. Plan your visit to a national park, wildlife refuge, or other federal land (see more below).

4. Show your voucher to a ranger when you enter. If there is no ranger, leave it on the dashboard of your car.

• National Park Service
• Fish and Wildlife Service
• Bureau of Land Management
• Bureau of Reclamation
